Open Hearts is for all trans, non-binary and gender diverse individuals. As well as those looking to affirm, to explore, or are questioning a trans or gender-diverse identity. Open Hearts focuses on building community and connections.
As distinct from some of the other groups, this is an open format group that is casual and informal in nature. It is about creating space for individuals to share and just be themselves.

The United Church of Canada will offer a historic apology for ways in which the denomination has hurt and harmed 2S and LGBTQIA+ communities within and beyond the United Church. The apology will take place in the context of a special live-streamed worship service.
The service is open to anyone who would like to attend in person; it will also be available on Zoom, with interpretation in English and French. Register here for the link. Online participants are invited to have a bowl of water and branches with them, for a blessing at the end.
On the morning of the Apology, the full worship liturgy will be posted online, particularly so that online participants can follow along with the hymns. The worship bulletin is bilingual in English-French. Access it on the apology page.
There will be several ways for people to participate and gather:
In Person
Immediately after the worship service, Affirm United/S’affirmer ensemble and Affirming Connections leaders will host an in person only group gathering at Knox United for people who are not participating in General Council.
Several chaplains will be ready and equipped to offer pastoral care at the church afterwards, and Equity Support Team members will be open for pastoral care, conversations, and to provide support in the space for in-person conversations after worship, while other team members will join the large group gathering. Light refreshments will also be available after worship.
Online
People who are online and who would like to be part of a group experience and conversation can remain in the Zoom room post-service for continued conversation. This space will also be hosted by leaders from Affirm United/S’affirmer Ensemble and Affirming Connections.
Unfortunately, it cannot be a hybrid gathering with people who are gathered in-person; it will be online only. After the worship service, online participants can ask for individual pastoral care with a member of the Equity Support Team, by typing into the Zoom chat or by emailing equity@united-church.
Come join Queer Calgary for a fun evening of board games, laughter and fun! We welcome anyone to attend, whether you’re a newcomer to gaming or an experienced board game enthusiast.
This event is happening at The Sentry Box. Please note that The Sentry Box is made up of two separate business entities. To access the building, please enter through the west entrance into the Sentry Box, not The Sentry Box Cards. We’ll be on the upper mezzanine, and signs will be placed on the tables to indicate our tables.
Please be aware that this event is not wheelchair accessible due to the approximately 9 stairs into the building.
However, please remember that these events are meant to be a safe space for the Queer community. Transphobia, homophobia, and discrimination of any kind are not welcome. Being a safe space also includes being respectful of photography. Before taking any pictures including people, please always ask for permission.
You can RSVP on Meetup here! Please note you are not required to sign up to attend, all of our ongoing programs are always open to walk ins!
