Queer Joy in the Face of Anti-2SLGBTQ+ Hate - Queer Joy! Project
Come make art and community! There are two upcoming Queer Joy! Project workshops:
On Sunday, August 24th, we'll collage, make zines, and talk about celebrating queer and trans joy in times of rising hate.
On Saturday, August 30th, the workshop will focus on sapphic joy, and anyone is welcome to join the gathering who identifies with the category 'sapphic' (e.g., lesbian, woman-loving, etc.) . We'll be collaging, making zines, and talking about the sapphic experience and of course sapphic joy! This event is in partnership with Lavender Club YYC. Please note that the term sapphic is inclusive of trans and non-binary sapphic folks!
These events are for 2SLGBTQ+ people 18-35. All art supplies will be provided.
The events will begin at 11:30am at a downtown Calgary location (location will be sent to those who register).
Agenda:
Arrive at 11:30am: Grabbing lunch and settling in
12-5pm: Collaging workshops (you have the option of making a zine for the second workshop)
Lunch, snacks, and drinks will be provided including GF, DF, and vegan options.
A $30 honorarium will be provided to participants following the event. The event is wheelchair accessible.
Please note that while you’re welcome to register for both events, space is limited and registration may be capped. Depending on demand, you may be confirmed for only one event. You'll receive a follow up email if any adjustments are needed.
